What's it about?

Focusing on patients with acute MSK injuries and covering all major limb joints, this emergency orthopaedics course looks at assessment, diagnosis and care. It consists of 12 lectures, filmed live over two days, plus multi-camera tutorials covering all major practical examination, reduction and immobilisation techniques

Learning objectives:

During this course the student will:

  1. learn to better diagnose commonly missed injuries of all major limbs and joints
  2. review examinations of the wrist, elbow, shoulder, ankle and knee
  3. review reduction techniques for the hip, ankle, wrist and shoulder
  4. review the principles of, and observe best techniques to splint upper and lower limbs

Course Lecturer

Arun Sayal & Matt DiStefano
Emergency Physicians

Dr Sayal is an Emergency Physician, with a specialist interest in orthopaedics, at North York General Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He is the founder of the CASTED Course and has presented over 250 ED orthopaedic workshops and received over a dozen teaching awards.

Dr Matt DiStefano is an Emergency Physician and Orthopaedic Surgeon and one of the lead educators on the CASTED Course. He is also a ski instructor, race car instructor and music enthusiast.
